ATP World Tour - Association Tennis Professionals was founded in 1972 to protect the interests of male professionals tennis players. Since 1990, the association has organized the worldwide tennis tournaments for professionals tennis players and named this tournaments of the tour with the orgainsations name. In 1990 the organistation was called the ATP Tour, which was renamed in 2001 as just ATP and professionals tennis tournaments tour being called ATP tour. In 2009 the name of association was changed again to ATP World Tour wich is curently name,an evolution of  tournaments competitions previously known as Grand Prix tennis tournaments and World Championship Tennis. Executive Offices are located in London, England. Americas Offices is based in Florida, USA; Europe Offices is headquartered in Monaco; and International Offices, which covers Africa, Asia and Australasia, is based in Sydney, Australia.

Composed in 1972 by several professionals tennis players,ATP World Tour was first managed by 2 managers Jack Kramer , Cliff Drysdale. Asociation's goal  was integral in creating professional tennis players' rankings and tournaments which started the following year and continues to this day. From 1974 to 1989, the men's circuit was administered by a sub-committee called the "Men's Tennis Council". It was made up of representatives of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), association, in cooperation with professionals tennis tournaments directors from around the world.

To combat doping of professionals tennis players participating on professionals tournaments ATP World Tour requested and got approval of  Men's International Pro Tennis Council (MIPTC) to introduce a drug testing rule, making tennis the first professional sport to institute a workable and well-designed drug-testing program.

In the year 1988 was held an professionals tennis players protest protesting the fact that association was managed only by tournaments directors, protest that will totally change the structure of professionals association.

By 1991, the tennis players had their first television package to broadcast 19 professionals tournaments to the world. Launching official  website in 1995, was quickly followed by a multi-year agreement with Mercedes-Benz.

In 2008 on association arise in legal issues that will lead again to reorganization of the structure.

Since 1991 tennis players have a TV network that transmitted worldwide at that time 19 professional tournaments ATP World Tour official web site launching has attracted a sponsorship deal with the well known brand car manufacturer Mercedes Benz.

ATP World Tour organizes worldwide tournaments professionals tennis players:

Association organizes "World Team Cup" wich is a professionals tennis players tournament which takes place in Dusseldorf, Germany, in May of each year also "Champions Tour" wich is a tour dedicated to professional players retired from sports activity. Retired players who participate in tournament champions must meet the condition to be occupied first place in the hierarchy of players, winner of a grand slam tournament or paticipating on a winning Cup Davis.This tournaments is organized for professionals tennis players in ten locations around the world and has the final at the Royal Albert Hall London,England.Competition is organized in two groups of 4 players each player playing to a player from the other group .First classifieds two players dispute the final,other two players on 2nd places on both groups play for a place on podium.

Famous proffesionals tennis players who participate or have participated on this  tournaments : Björn Borg, John McEnroe, Mats Wilander, Stefan Edberg, Boris Becker, Jim Courier, Pete Sampras, Thomas Muster, Marcelo Rios, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Patrick Rafter, Ivan Lendl, Ilie Nastase John Newcombe, Jimmy Connors, Andre Agassi, Carlos Moya.

Professional tennis players meet at the end of season in final ATP World Tour Finals sponsored by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). In this final stage participate double teams or players who have accumulated the most points throughout the entire sports season.

Most major professional tournaments are Grand Slam tournaments, the most important tours that capture public attention and participants players are rewarded with large sums of money, and important points in the hierarchy competition.

Grand Slam tournaments are located in Australia, France, England and the United States, are known as Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, U.S. Open and runs in this order.Australian Open ,U.S. Open is played on a hard surface play and French Open on a surface covered with clay while Wimbledon is played on a surface covered with grass.

In 2009 ATP World Tour tennis tournament ranked : Masters 1000 ,  Masters 500, Masters 250.

1000 Master Tournaments include tournaments in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Rome, Madrid, Toronto, Montreal, Cincinnati, Shanghai and year-end Paris.Evenimentul organizes Tour Finals in London.

ATP Tour World Masters 500 include tournaments in Rotterdam, Dubai, Acapulco, Memphis, Barcelona, Hamburg, Washington, Beijing, Tokyo, Basel and Valencia.
